Socialite Kenny Kunene defiantly removed the contents of his Kimberly ZAR nightclub ahead of a scheduled visit from a sheriff set to attach it.

According to the Sunday Sun, the 'Sushi-King' hastily removed assets included expensive couches, plasma screens, speakers, fridges, and tables

Kunene and business partner Gayton McKenzie closed the door to the Kimberly branch of their posh ZAR nightclub some two months ago after falling behind with their rent, levies and electricity bills.

Allegedly owing more than R350 000 in back-rent and R130 000 for electricity, Kunene reportedly sent a truck to the ZAR premises on Heritage Day morning to cart off all movable assets from the building

Following his arrival at the empty venue, the incredulous Sheriff - who amusingly only identified himself as "Kenny"- explained that he's prohibited from talking to the media and advised the newspaper to "rather go and talk to the ZAR owners - because they have the documents and they can tell you the whole story".

ZAR has overall been a fruitless endeavour for the couple of ex-convicts, with the shutters of the Sandton branch put up last year and the one in Cape Town placed under provisional liquidation by the Western Cape high court

Neither Kenny nor Gayton could, however, be reached for comment.
