Blackberry Cuts 4,500 Jobs while Intel Cuts 700

One can hear the average Joe who voted for Obama say, “I Voted for Change, but not this Bullshit!”

The economic outlook keeps degenerating with Blackberry cutting 4,500 jobs, and with Intel closing a manufacturing plant in Hudson, Massachusetts, resulting in 700 jobs lost.[1][2]
Although the Information Technology sector of the global economy has been doing well overall, restructuring and new technologies have effected some business models more than others. The IT Security and Storage sectors are poised for tremendous growth.
In the case of Blackberry, the technology has been under immense scrutiny for its not keeping up with the vast majority of what people want in their communication devices. Even though the U.S. government has only certified Blackberry for government use, this did not avert the job cuts.[3][4]
Soon afterward, in the article ‘U.S. and U.K. spies crack BlackBerry BES Encryption, report says’ by computerworld.com, Blackberry BES Encryption was compromised. Once again, the NSA is a global threat to privacy and corporate security.[5]
The chip manufacturing plant in Hudson, Massachusetts is a quite different story. After substantial tax benefits from the state, and even after billions invested in the plant, Intel decided to close the plant citing outdated manufacturing issues and the unavailability of land to expand on with a new plant. The state initially looked at investigating if they had reason to ‘claw-back’ tax breaks, yet it was determined that Intel had satisfied its end of the bargain.[2]
Overall, the trend in a national one in which corporations are tightening and cutting jobs in an effort to stay competitive and survive. The net effect is a degradation of local and state economies and more job losses. Expect massive changes once Obama-Care kicks in.
The news of jobs being shipped overseas to China and India is nothing new, but as the global economy weakens more every day, one can expect job losses to increase. Nothing is being done on a national level and no plans are underway for any major national infrastructure revitalization program – something that could potentially put millions of American to work. No, the Obama administration has more important things to take care of – suck as starting another war in the Middle East and spending hundreds of billions of dollars and countless lives. One can hear the average Joe who voted for Obama saying, “I Voted for Change, but not this Bullshit!”
